WardBoard privacy notice

WardBoard is a ward-round board for health professionals.
What WardBoard stores
The patients you enter (name, ward, bed, and the clinical notes, jobs and results you add) and your settings. This is personal and health information of your patients. It is kept only on your phone, behind your PIN, and is not sent to us or anyone else.
How WardBoard protects it
- A PIN and fingerprint lock.
- Screenshots and screen recording are blocked.
- No cloud storage and no backup to Google.
- You can delete any patient, or all data, at any time.
What WardBoard sends
Nothing to us. You can choose to share a ward list with a colleague’s phone by QR code, or to export a list to print. These go only where you send them. Reminders are notifications on your phone only.
WardBoard can receive one line of results from LabScan or WardCalc on the same phone; you confirm which patient it belongs to before it is saved.
WardBoard for Windows
Stores its data only on that computer, encrypted.
App updates
Updates to the app are downloaded from Expo, the service we use to deliver them. This sends the app’s version and your phone type, not personal information.
Your responsibility
As the health professional using WardBoard you are responsible for the patient information on your phone, under POPIA and your hospital’s policies.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask what information we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because we hold none on our side, the information in the app is in your own hands: you can delete it at any time in the app or by uninstalling it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Questions: info@hbjlabs.co.za.
Changes
If this notice changes we will update it here and change the date above.
