WardCalc is a calculator and treatment-guideline app for health professionals.
What WardCalc stores
Your settings (light or dark, the guideline book you chose), your favourite calculators and the last weight you entered, only on your phone. WardCalc does not ask for or store patient names or any other personal information.
What WardCalc sends
Nothing to us. WardCalc has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no server.
- When LabScan opens WardCalc it passes only a test, its flag and numbers (for example a potassium of 6.6), never a name. These stay in memory and are gone when you close the app.
- “WardBoard” on a calculator result passes a one-line result to WardBoard on the same phone, with no name.
- “Share” uses your phone’s share menu; you choose where it goes.
App updates
Updates to the app are downloaded from Expo, the service we use to deliver them. This sends the app’s version and your phone type, not personal information.
Guideline content
Medicine doses and treatment text come from the National Department of Health’s Standard Treatment Guidelines and Essential Medicines List, reproduced free of charge as its copyright allows. WardCalc is a decision aid and does not replace clinical judgement.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask what information we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Because we hold none on our side, the information in the app is in your own hands: you can delete it at any time in the app or by uninstalling it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Questions: info@hbjlabs.co.za.
Changes
If this notice changes we will update it here and change the date above.
